How am I supposed to keep the bonus-starting NPC from getting killed? The Mantle always kill him before I can kill them...

I just run to them and attack the mantle knights. I haven't had a problem with this,so forgive me if I'm not helping much,but when I get close enough to the NPC, he says something in chat. At that point I immediately run to him and kill off the mantle.

By the way, I've found it easiest to do the mission with real players then go back and do the bonus with henchmen.

Just attune the middle portal and run around the bottom towards the demogogue. He stands off by himself so it's easy to pull him away from the other mantle and kill him.

Tryed throwing a heal his way? I haven't had a problem with this yet, but if you are, just go /mo and throw aa heal or something on your bar to heal him up when you get to him.

Also make sure you are going at him from the quickest side.

From what I have observed, the two mantle warriors won't attack him until you get close. So if you decide to not kill the other mantle and the boss on the way and rush in to save him, it'll probably be more difficult to keep him alive.

So take your time killing the others first and then go to him, that works for me.

I've never seen him die. I think there are maybe two ways to get there, go round a different way. He shouldn't start getting attacked until you are near, like the Chosen on Divinity Coast.

Ive never had aproblem with him dying either.. but I would find it pretty annoying if he did keep dying before picking up the bonus ^^

There will be a lot of "pinging" if he is being attacked. Occasionally, like Rathcail says, they will not attack until you get there. But if you see/hear the pinging, run by all the enemies in your way to get to him no matter what.

When I did that bonus, he would always get attacked when I was still fight the first group of mantles or while fighting the boss. What I would do is have the monk run pass the mantle/boss to heal him while the rest of the group finishes the earlier groups.
